Trip WINS BIG at the 2010 Dixie Deer Classic
March 7th 2010
Jr Pro Staffer Trip Christan went to the Dixie Deer Classc in Raleigh this year with one thing in mind, to win the the 8 & under division in the 3-D Archery Shoot. With a possible score of 180 pts, Trip's 164 proved to be enough to win the event. Trip would like to thank Mike Myers @ Kinsey's Outddors in Mt Joy Pa for the custom strings & cables, his buddy and fellow Jr Pro Staffer Nick for his rest & sights and "Uncle Bill for some hot arrows & fletchings". Trip would also like to let bow manufacturers know that he is avaialble for seminars and would consider accepting sponsorship ;)
Winter Striper Trip Huge Success
AO Pro Staffer's Jay Christian, Chuck Clay and Doc Morris, along with other AO Field Team memebers recently spent a couple days in Va Beach chasing striper aboard the charter boat, "Reel Hi" owned and operated by Cpt. Larry Brooks.
Friday proved to be a great day on the water as far as the weather goes but the fishing was tuff for most boats out that day. Saturday was the exact opposite, weather was ruff with 5-6 ft swells but the bite was on! Cpt. Larry had to make a long run to get the fisherman to the bite but it was well worth it as everyone on board was able to catch their limit with the keepers being very nice fish. Many of the anglers were able to boat their personal best on this trip and our hats go off to Cpt. Larry for an excellent charter. Check out the pics and look for a video clip soon.
The "Reel Hi" spends most of the year based in Hatteras Nc chartering off-shore trips. But Cpt. Larry makes the run up the coast in the fall & winter to take advantage of the great striper fishing to be had just outside of Rudee Inlet. Team AO wins the Kerr Lake Catfish Association Open!
A cool night in October proved to be the right conditions for a succesful night of fishing for Team AO. A total of nine fish were caught between 2 boats. The last 30 minutes of the tounament sealed our fate as Jay set the hook on this 43 lb. Flathead. He immediately handed the rod to his father Jackie (photo, center) and began preparing the boat to accomodate a pontential brute. With Jr. Pro Staffer Trip assisting, Jay was able to net this monster when it neared the boat. Congrats to Jay, and Team AO!

Pro Staffers Trip and Jay make at least one trip each year to North Carolina in the fall to hunt with Pro Staffers Bill and Nick. The plan for this year was to get trip a shot at a nice buck. With the weather warm and the rut a few weeks away, buck movement was not what it normally is for the area being hunted. Trip managed to sit 2 times and let many does and smaller bucks walk. On the 2nd morning he couldn't take it anymore and finally had to "manage the herd" as he called it. This doe and another, stood in the path a bit too long and Trip made his longest shot to date - 200 yds.
12-3-09..Picked up Nick from school at 3:00. Dropped him off with Dave Nickell to bowhunt at 3:30. Nicholas drills his 3 deer with the bow this year at 4:15. 2 shots at 30 yards, 1 at 45. This Brings his total up to 7 for the season. 8 pointer, 6 pointer, spike, 3 does with the bow, and 1 doe with his .270. Still have 3 weeks left in the season.........Holidays equal time off from school-
1/19/2010 - Nick kills his first goose while hunting with his brother Billy, and another friend. 7:05 am I recieve a text.."I I got Him". Nicholas killed the bird flying at about 45 yards using a Remington 1100 12ga loaded with Federal Black Cloud BBB Steel Shot.
